GREAT NEWS FOR WOMEN DEALING WITH POST BREAST CANCER SURGERY!
Help is now available from Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL), insurance and income tax deductions.
How can I benefit?
1. Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) assists Albertans with a long-term disability, chronic illness or terminal illness in maintaining independence in their community. AADL provides funding for basic medical equipment and supplies to meet clinically assessed needs*.
The program is available through approved specialty vendors, of which Compassionate Beauty is one. This program is a cost share for breasts forms. Those eligible are offered a cost sharing of either $263.02 or up to $350.7 per breast prosthesis every three years if needed.
2. Insurance: In addition to the provincial program, many families also have third party private insurance (also referred to as extended health care plans). Please call your insurer and/or review your policy to ensure you’re taking advantage of the maximum benefit allowed.
Here’s one example of an insurance policy coverage that may apply to you:
Prosthetic equipment – We cover external breast prostheses once per insured person per calendar year. We’ll pay for 2 surgical brassieres per insured person per calendar year.
3. Income Tax: In addition to the above resources, many of the medical items that are GST exempt may also be income tax deductions. When discussing this with your income tax preparer please let them know that Compassionate Beauty’s medical items are GST exempt and therefore should be considered income tax deductions.
